The Field Of Battle Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBC DEFGGHHD IJJI DKKLLMMD

The Deed of Blood is o'erA
And hark the Trumpet's mournful breathB
Low murmurs round it a Note of DeathB
The Mighty are no moreC
-
How solemn slow that distant GroanD
O could AMBITION wild with fearE
The deep prophetic Warning hearF
And looking listning vain aroundG
For one soul soothing softer soundG
While near unseen the Fiends of HellH
Toll round the wretch his fancied KnellH
Rave all aloneD
-
But hark soft Plaints ariseI
Friendship adieu farewel soft LoveJ
I go to smiling Peace aboveJ
The Friend the Lover diesI
-
Yet happy Soul to Freedom giv'nD
Go where no proud tyrannic LordK
Drives Man upon his Brother's swordK
Where Angels from thine arms shall tearL
The Chains AMBITION bade thee wearL
Where on the once pale Cheek of WoeM
In Smiles immortal Roses blowM
The Bloom of Heav'nD
