The Queen's Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEGHIJI KLKMNONO PQRQJSJA

Had I the powerA
To Midas given of oldB
To touch a flowerA
And leave the petals goldB
I then might touch thy faceC
Delightful boyD
And leave a metal graceC
A graven joyD
-
Thus would I slayE
Ah desperate deviceF
The vital dayE
That trembles in thine eyesG
And let the red lips closeH
Which sang so wellI
And drive away the roseJ
To leave a shellI
-
Then I myselfK
Rising austere and dumbL
On the hight shelfK
Of my half lighted roomM
Would place the shining bustN
And wait aloneO
Until I was but dustN
Buried unknownO
-
Thus in my loveP
For nations yet unbornQ
I would removeR
From our two lives the mornQ
And muse on lovelinessJ
In mine armchairS
Content should Time confessJ
How sweet you wereA
