With timorous and terrible delight | H |

Weary he drew man's wisdom from a book | I |
And pondered on the high words spoken of old | J |
Pacing a lamplit room but soon forsook | I |
The golden sentences that left him cold | J |

After a woman found him and his head | K |
Lay on her breast till he forgot his pain | L |
In gentle kisses on a midnight bed | K |
And welcomed royal winged joy again | M |

When love became a loathing as it must | N |
He knew not where to turn and he was wise | O |
