Mignon Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDD EEFFDD GGHHDD

Knowest thou the land where bloom the lemon treesA
And darkly gleam the golden orangesB
A gentle wind blows down from that blue skyC
Calm stands the myrtle and the laurel highC
Knowest thou the land So far and fairD
Thou whom I love and I will wander thereD
-
Knowest thou the house with all its rooms aglowE
And shining hall and columned porticoE
The marble statues stand and look at meF
Alas poor child what have they done to theeF
Knowest thou the land So far and fairD
My Guardian thou and I will wander thereD
-
Knowest thou the mountain with its bridge of cloudG
The mule plods warily the white mists crowdG
Coiled in their caves the brood of dragons sleepH
The torrent hurls the rock from steep to steepH
Knowest thou the land So far and fairD
Father away Our road is over thereD
