Felo De Se Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBABA CDDCEE FGFGFHHH HHHHIJKJJ

The song of a man who was deadA
Ere any had heard of his songB
Or had seen this his ultimate songB
With the lines of it written in redA
And the sound of it steady and strongB
When you hear it you know I am deadA
-
Not because I was weary of lifeC
As pallid poets areD
My star was a conquering starD
My element strifeC
I am young I am strong I am braveE
It is therefore I go to the graveE
-
Now to life and to life's desireF
And to youth and the glory of youthG
Farewell for I go to acquireF
By the one road left me TruthG
Though a great God slay me with fireF
I will shout till he answer me WhyH
One soul and a Universe whyH
And for this it is pleasant to dieH
-
For years and years I have slumberedH
And slumber was heavy and sweetH
But the last few moments are numberedH
Like trampling feet that beatH
I shall walk with the stars in their coursesI
And hear very soon very soonJ
The voice of the forge of the ForcesK
And ride on a ridge of the moonJ
And sing a celestial tuneJ
