Song Of The Cub Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABACAC ADADAAAA EBFBGAGA

I know not what this may betokenA
That I feel so wondrous wiseB
My dream of existence is brokenA
Since science has opened my eyesB
At the British AssociationA
I heard the President s speechC
And the methods and facts of creationA
Seemed suddenly placed in my reachC
-
My life s undivided devotionA
To Science I solemnly vowedD
I d dredge up the bed of the oceanA
I d draw down the spark from the cloudD
To follow my thoughts as they go onA
Electrodes I d place in my brainA
Nay I'd swallow a live entoz onA
New feelings of life to obtainA
-
O where are those high feasts of ScienceE
O where are those words of the wiseB
I hear but the roar of Red LionsF
I eat what their Jackal suppliesB
I meant to lie so scientificG
But science seems turned into funA
And this with his roaring terrificG
That old red lion bath doneA
