Molecular Evolution Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDF GHIHJKCK ILGLAMNM OPOPQRQR

At quite uncertain times and placesA
The atoms left their heavenly pathB
And by fortuitous embracesC
Engendered all that being hathB
And though they seem to cling togetherD
And form associations hereE
Yet soon or late they burst their tetherD
And through the depths of space careerF
-
So we who sat oppressed with scienceG
As British asses wise and graveH
Are now transformed to wild Red LionsI
As round our prey we ramp and raveH
Thus by a swift metamorphosisJ
Wisdom turns wit and science jokeK
Nonsense is incense to our nosesC
For when Red Lions speak they smokeK
-
Hail Nonsense dry nurse of Red LionsI
From thee the wise their wisdom learnL
From thee they cull those truths of scienceG
Which into thee again they turnL
What combinations of ideasA
Nonsense alone can wisely formM
What sage has half the power that she hasN
To take the towers of Truth by stormM
-
Yield then ye rules of rigid reasonO
Dissolve thou too too solid senseP
Melt into nonsense for a seasonO
Then in some nobler form condenseP
Soon all too soon the chilly morningQ
This flow of soul will crystallizeR
Then those who Nonsense now are scorningQ
May learn too late where wisdom liesR
