Summer Studies. I Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEAA FGFGHH AIAIJJ

The cock hath crow'd I hear the doors unbarr'dA
Down to the moss grown porch my way I takeB
And hear beside the well within the yardA
Full many an ancient quacking splashing drakeB
And gabbling goose and noisy brood hen allC
Responding to yon strutting gobbler's callC
-
The dew is thick upon the velvet grassD
The porch rails hold it in translucent dropsE
And as the cattle from th' enclosure passD
Each one alternate slowly halts and cropsE
The tall green spears with all their dewy loadA
Which grow beside the well known pasture roadA
-
A lustrous polish is on all the leavesF
The birds flit in and out with varied notesG
The noisy swallows twitter 'neath the eavesF
A partridge whistle thro' the garden floatsG
While yonder gaudy peacock harshly criesH
As red and gold flush all the eastern skiesH
-
Up comes the sun thro' the dense leaves a spotA
Of splendid light drinks up the dew the breezeI
Which late made leafy music dies the day grows hotA
And slumbrous sounds come from marauding beesI
The burnish'd river like a sword blade shinesJ
Save where 'tis shadow'd by the solemn pinesJ
