Arms And The Man. - Prologue. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CADA EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLKL

Full burnished through the long revolving yearsA
The ploughshare of a Century to dayB
Runs peaceful furrows where a crop of SpearsA
Once stood in War's arrayB
-
And we like those who on the Trojan plainC
See hoary secrets wrenched from upturned sodsA
Who in their fancy hear resound againD
The battle cry of godsA
-
We now this splendid scene before us spreadE
Where Freedom's full hexameter beganF
Restore our Epic which the Nations readE
As far its thunders ranF
-
Here visions throng on People and on BardG
Ranks all a glitter in battalions massedH
And closed around as like a plum d guardG
They lead us down the PastH
-
I see great Shapes in vague confusion marchI
Like giant shadows moving vast and slowJ
Beneath some torch lit temple's mighty archI
Where long processions goJ
-
I see these Shapes before me all unfoldK
But ne'er can fix them on the lofty wallL
Nor tell them save as she of Endor toldK
What she beheld to SaulL
