If thou wilt hold my silver hairA
O Lady sweet and brightB
I'll bring thee maiden darling whereA
Thy lover is to nightB
Lay down thy robe of cloth of goldC
Gold weigheth heavilyD
Thy necklace wound in jewell'd foldC
And hie thee forth with meD
-
O Thistle down dear Thistle downE
I've laid my robe asideF
My necklace and my jewell'd crownE
And yet I cannot glideF
Along the silver crests of nightB
With thee light thing with theeD
Rain would I try the airy flightB
What sayest thou to meD
-
If thou wilt hold my silver hairA
O maiden fair and proudG
We'll float upon the purple airA
High as yon lilied cloudG
There is a jewel weighs thy heartH
If thou with me wouldst glideF
That cold cold jewel place apartH
The jewel of thy prideF
-
O Thistle down dear Thistle downE
That jewel part I've setI
With golden robe and shining crownE
And cannot follow yetI
Fain would I clasp thy silver tressJ
And float on high with theeD
Yet somewhat me to earth doth pressJ
What sayest thou to meD
-
If thou wilt hold my silver hairA
O lady sweet and chasteK
We'll dance upon the sparkling airA
And to thy lover hasteK
A lily lies upon thy breastL
Snow white as it can beD
It holds thee strong sweet with the restL
Yield lilied chastityD
-
O Thistle down false Thistle downE
I've parted Pride and GoldC
Laid past my jewels and my crownE
My golden robings' foldC
I will not lay my lily pastM
Love's light as vanityD
When to the mocking wind is castM
The lily ChastityD
