His Wife And Baby Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCBDDEFFG HHBII JJBKKB

In the lone place of the leavesA
Where they touch the hanging eavesA
There sprang a spray of joyous song that sounded sweet and sturdyB
And the baby in the bedC
Raised the shining of his headC
And pulled the mother's lids apart to wake and watch the birdieB
She kissed lip dimples sweetD
The red soles of his feetD
The waving palms that patted hers as wind blown blossoms wanderE
He twined her tresses silkF
Round his neck as white as milkF
'Now baby say what birdie sings upon his green spray yonder 'G
-
'He sings a plenty thingsH
Just watch him wash his wingsH
He says Papa will march to day with drums home through the cityB
Here birdie here's my cupI
You drink the milk all upI
I'll kiss you birdie now you're washed like baby clean and pretty '-
-
She rose she sought the skiesJ
With the twin joys of her eyesJ
She sent the strong dove of her soul up through the dawning's gloryB
She kissed upon her handK
The glowing golden bandK
That bound the fine scroll of her life and clasped her simple storyB
