SunA
-
There is no sin in longingB
As long as obsession is not damnedC
Find and fight the river ragingB
Squash the sturdy landD
-
For life is a journey fullE
Of ever changing devotionsF
Ironic as a waking lullG
Tugging your emotionsF
-
Like the lights that beckonA
Guiding you in embraceF
What of the voices that reckonA
That begging is a mistakeH
-
You played with the flameI
As you yourself is a fireJ
No one is to blameI
But nature's last desireJ
-
All it is a game of embersF
To keep each other ablazeF
Burning off of what one remembersF
Whilst thinking of their faceF
-
-
-
AmberJ
-
Crackle crackle like breaking bonesF
The sound they make is coldK
But unlike the bluish tonesF
The warmth is far too boldK
-
Hiss hiss like kindled woodL
Whose end is nearly to beM
But unlike the brittle bones wouldL
The flame dreams to be freeM
-
-
-
SunA
-
The two lit dance to the nightN
Like leaves to the windO
If only life would make it brightN
Until the very endP
-
But the fuses live time bizarrelyG
Chasing the clock oddly devoutQ
One is put out prematurelyG
What of the one still aboutQ
-
-
-
CarmineA
-
Crackle crackle like shattering bonesF
This heart of mine breaksF
Like those of kings offering thronesF
Before the sleeping monster wakesF
-
Hiss hiss like sparked woodL
Enjoined by the restR
To look anew as others wouldL
Like I would appease at their behestR
-
-
-
SunA
-
You say to them you do not careS
For one's flame is theirs aloneT
You shall not touch strands of their hairS
And that they should keep to their ownT
-
Your creed is yours to see throughU
With promises ignitingB
The reckless and the cautious youU
In your mind revelingB
-
That beauty is but a blessing and sinV
Death is just the end of a proseF
Woe is to tear as joy is to grinV
That love is to rear a thorny roseF
-
One fire lit amid the darkW
In the face of bitter plightN
Holding truth that is most starkW
As do the stars in prolonged flightN
-
There is no ill in longingB
Though some might view it damnedC
You will face the currents stormingB
Cursing and crying atop the sandD
-
The words you spoke in dead of nightN
Together with your fated pairS
Though you believe destiny's not rightN
Shall ring and bellow in the airS
-
-
-
Amber CarmineA
-
Crackle crackle the embers afloatX
Are searching above and down belowG
Glowing proud the embers gloatX
But they are worries we have let goG
-
Hiss hiss says charring timberJ
As we promise to the day anewU
Even if I turn into a lifeless specterJ
My ashen wisps will love only youU

Poet's note: Sun Greets the Ghost Fires is an on-the-whim work inspired by thoughts I have been having within the last few years, as well as a spark of inspiration ignited by something I was reading yesterday. What fueled it is my thought on remarriage. However, because of my mistake (simply refreshing the site accidently, while editing), I lost my original train of thought and I do not feel like writing it again. Hopefully it can be found through reading the piece. This was finished on March 6, 2021, at around 1:00 AM.
