Lonesome Is The Ocean Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCC DEFE GHGH IJKL

Tiresome is the breezeA
Flowing like waves of summer heatB
Yet cold to the touchC
Those who travel tremble ever so muchC
-
Back to the seas the water it callsD
Beckoning in agonyE
In a voice one hardly hearsF
Trembling in monotonyE
-
The saline water is akin to fireG
One cannot go in too deepH
For when the conscious is beaten by desireG
Death only takes one leapH
-
This is why the sandy beach runs darkI
At night when black is deepest before dawnJ
Even if the water whimpers nothing calls backK
Truly lonesome is the oceanL

Poet's note: I often think and wonder about how death compels people. Perhaps there is beauty in it. And, in this piece, the lonely body of water is contagious in its expression. This was something I wrote back in 2019.
