Echoes From Idoto Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC DEFGG HIJKL MNGO E ECPDQ

From the call of the coucalA
to the mournful whispers of my kinB
the roots of Idoto stir within meC
-
From woods thousands of miles awayD
from the green carpeted paths of homeE
I hear the criesF
one a call to orderG
the other a chorus steeped in sweet disorderG
-
In one land I sojournH
a stranger among its rhythmsI
In the other I am son and heirJ
bound by soil by water by bloodK
yet kept far by time and tideL
-
When shall I treadM
the red earth againN
When shall the riverG
mirror my face at duskO
-
When shall I be homeE
-
Ekenweofia I feel your longing for homeE
Akudinofia feels it deeplyC
That orderliness will be restoredP
And we fish together on the banks of Idoto somedayD
In the nakedness of our childhood innocenceQ
