Young Woman Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACAD ACACAE ACFCAD

Naked before the glass she saidA
I see my body as no man hasB
Nor any shall unless I wedA
And naked in a stranger s houseC
Stand timid beside his bedA
There is no pity in the fleshD
-
-
Or else I shall grow old she saidA
Alone and change my likelinessC
For a vile slack shape a headA
Shriveled with thinking wickednessC
Against the day I must be deadA
And eaten by my crabbed wishE
-
-
One or the other way she saidA
How shall I know the differenceC
When wrinkles come to spinster or brideF
Whether to marry or burn is blessC
ed best O stranger to my bedA
There is no pity in the fleshD
