To D-, Dead By Her Own Hand Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJ KBLMD

My dear I wonder if before the endA
You ever thought about a children s gameB
I m sure you must have played it too in whichC
You ran along a narrow garden wallD
Pretending it to be a mountain ledgeE
So steep a snowy darkness fell awayF
On either side to deeps invisibleG
And when you felt your balance being lostH
You jumped because you feared to fall and thoughtI
For only an instant That was when I diedJ
-
-
That was a life ago And now you ve goneK
Who would no longer play the grown ups gameB
Where balanced on the ledge above the darkL
You go on running and you don t look downM
Nor ever jump because you fear to fallD
