The Consent Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFA GHCIJKL

Late in November on a single nightA
Not even near to freezing the ginkgo treesB
That stand along the walk dropp all their leavesC
In one consent and neither to rain nor to windD
But as though to time alone the golden and greenE
Leaves litter the lawn today that yesterdayF
Had spread aloft their fluttering fans of lightA
-
What signal from the stars What senses took it inG
What in those wooden motives so decidedH
To strike their leaves to down their leavesC
Rebellion or surrender and if thisI
Can happen thus what race shall be exemptJ
What use to learn the lessons taught by timeK
If a star at any time may tell us NowL
