Of that wild region where they drained the swamp | F |
And set provision out that they might sit | A |
Of history the cracked precipitate | G |

Until the glass be shattered and the sun | H |
Descend to burn the prosperous flesh away | I |
Of the filthy world so vilely fathered on | J |
The fathers such black cinders sitting there | K |

Old pioneers what lecheries remain | L |
When schoolgirls pass what whispers of their skirts | M |
Cold gleams of flesh solicit in your veined | G |
And gemlike eyes the custom of desire | N |

None now Their eyes are sunk in ancient flesh | O |
And the sarcastic triumph of the mind | G |
They now enjoy letting their lust alone | P |
Who may have kin but have no longer kind | G |

Neither tomorrow s monstrous tumor nor | D |
The reformation of the past they wish | Q |
Who hold in silent colloquy the world | G |
A shrivelled apple in the hand of God | G |

They hang at night their somber flags aloft | G |
And through the amorous dark pursue their theme | R |
Of common images that sleep may show | S |
Them done with all disasters but the one | H |
