The Blue Swallows Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Across the millstream below the bridgeA
Seven blue swallows divide the airB
In shapes invisible and evanescentC
Kaleidoscopic beyond the mind sD
Or memory s power to keep them thereB
-
History is where tensions wereE
Form is the diagram of forcesF
Thus helplessly there on the bridgeA
While gazing down upon those birdsG
How strange to be above the birdsG
Thus helplessly the mind in its brainH
Weaves up relation s spindrift webI
Seeing the swallows tails as nibsJ
Dipped in invisible ink writingK
-
Poor mind what would you have them writeL
Some cabalistic historyM
Whose authorship you might ascribeN
To God to Nature Ah poor ghostO
You ve capitalized your Self enoughP
That villainous William of OccamQ
Cut out the feet from under that dreamQ
Some seven centuries agoR
It s taken that long for the mindS
To waken yawn and stretch to seeM
With opened eyes emptied of speechT
The real world where the spelling mindS
Imposes with its grammar bookU
Unreal relations on the blueV
Swallows Perhaps when you will haveW
Fully awakened I shall show youV
A new thing even the waterE
Flowing away beneath those birdsG
Will fail to reflect their flying formsX
And the eyes that see become as stonesY
Whence never tears shall fall againZ
-
O swallows swallows poems are notA2
The point Finding again the worldB2
That is the point where lovelinessY
Adorns intelligible thingsY
Because the mind s eye lit the sunC2
