I Only Am Escaped Alone To Tell Thee Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

I tell you that I see her stillA
At the dark entrance of the hallB
One gas lamp burning near her shoulderC
Shone also from her other sideD
Where hung the long inaccurate glassE
Whose pictures were as troubled waterC
An immense shadow had its handF
Between us on the floor and seemedG
To hump the knuckles nervouslyH
A giant crab readying to walkI
Or a blanket moving in its sleepJ
-
You will remember with a smileK
Instructed by movies to reminisceL
How strict her corsets must have beenM
How the huge arrangements of her hairN
Would certainly betray the leastO
Impassionate displacement thereN
It was no rig for dallyingI
And maybe only marriage couldP
Derange that queenly scaffoldingI
As when a great ship coming homeQ
Coasts in the harbor dropping sailR
And loosing all the tackle that had lacedS
Her in the long lanesT
I knowU
We need not draw this figure outV
But all that whalebone came for whalesW
And all the whales lived in the seaH
In calm beneath the troubled glassE
Until the needle drew their bloodX
I see her standing in the hallB
Where the mirror's lashed to blood and foamQ
And the black flukes of agonyH
Beat at the air till the light blows outV
