Song Of The Croaker Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDE FDGDDHDH IJKLDMDM NOPODQDQ RBHBDMDM

An old frog lived in a dismal swampA
In a dismal kind of wayB
And all that he did whatever befellC
Was to croak the livelong dayB
Croak croak croakD
When darkness filled the airE
And croak croak croakD
When the skies were bright and fairE
-
Good Master Frog a battle is foughtF
And the foeman's power is brokeD
But he only turned a greener hueG
And answered with a croakD
Croak croak croakD
When the clouds are dark and dunH
And croak croak croakD
In the blaze of the noontide sunH
-
Good Master Frog the forces of rightI
Are driving the hosts of wrongJ
But he gave his head an ominous shakeK
And croaked out Nous verronsL
Croak croak croakD
Till the heart is full of gloomM
And croak croak croakD
Till the world seems but a tombM
-
To poison the cup of lifeN
By always dreading the worstO
Is to make of the earth a dungeon dampP
And the happiest life accursedO
Croak croak croakD
When the noontide sun rides highQ
And croak croak croakD
Lest the night come by and byQ
-
Farewell to the dismal frogR
Let him croak as loud as he mayB
He cannot blot the sun from heavenH
Nor hinder the march of dayB
Though he croak croak croakD
Till the heart is full of gloomM
And croak croak croakD
Till the world seems but a tombM
