Horatio Alger Jr. January 13, 1832 - July 18, 1899) was a prolific 19th-century American author, Fame and Fortune: " like its predecessor, "Ragged Dick: " was contributed as a serial story to the "Schoolmate," a popular juvenile magazine published in Boston.
