Fair Harvard dear guide of our youth's golden daysC
At thy name all our hearts own a thrillD
We turn from life's highways its business its caresE
We are boys in thy tutelage stillD
And the warm blood of youth to our veins as of yoreF
Returns with impetuous flowG
Reviving the scenes and the hopes that were oursH
In the vanished but sweet Long AgoG
-
Once more through thy walks Alma Mater we treadI
And we dream youth's fair dreams once againJ
We are heroes in fight for the Just and the RightK
We are knights without fear without stainL
Its doors in fair prospect the world opens wideM
Its prizes seem easy to winN
We are strong in our faith we are bold in our mightK
And we long for the race to beginN
-
Though dimmed are our hopes and our visions are fledI
Our dreams were but dreams it is trueO
Dust stained from the contest we gather to nightK
The sweet dreams of youth to renewO
Enough for to morrow the cares it shall bringP
We are boys we are brothers to nightK
And our hearts warm with love Alma Mater to theeB
Shall in loyal devotion uniteK

As we meet in thy name Alma Mater to nightK
All our hearts and our hopes are as oneQ
And love for the mother that nurtured his youthR
Beats high in the breast of each sonQ
The sweet chords of Memory bridge o'er the PastS
The years fade away like a dreamT
By the banks of Cephissus beneath the green treesU
We tread thy fair walks AcademeT
-
The heights of Hymettus that bound the near viewO
Fill the air with an odor as sweetV
As the beautiful clusters of sun tinted grapesW
From the vineyards that lie at our feetV
O realm of enchantment O Wonderful landX
Where the gods hold high converse with menJ
Come out from the dusk of past ages once moreF
And live in our fancy againJ
-
Let us drink to the Past as our glasses we liftY
Let eye speak to eye heart to heartZ
Let the bonds of sweet fellowship bind each to eachA2
In the hours that remain ere we partZ
And thou Alma Mater grown fairer with ageB2
Let us echo the blessing that fellC2
From thy motherly lips as we stood at thy sideM
And thou bad'st us God speed and FarewellC2

Fair Harvard the months have accomplished their roundD2
And a year stands full orbed and completeV
Since last at thy summons with dutiful heartsE2
Thy children sat here at thy feetV
Since last in thy presence grown youthful once moreF
We drank to the past and its joysF2
Shaking off every care that encumbered our yearsG2
And dreamed that again we were boysF2
-
To night once again in thy presence we meetV
In the freshness and flush of life's springP
We wait but thy blessing we ask but thy smileH2
As our sails to the free air we flingP
The winds breathe auspicious that waft us alongI2
The sky undisturbed smiles sereneJ2
Hope stands at the prow and the waters gleam brightK
With sparkles of silvery sheenJ2
-
And thy voice Alma Mater so potent and sweetV
Still sounds in our ears as of yoreF
And thy motherly counsel we hear wisdom fraughtK2
As we push our frail barks from the shoreF
From the foam crested waves of the mountainous seaB
As backward our glances we strainL
We see the dear face of our mother benignL2
And bless her again and againJ

There's a fountain of Fable whose magical powerM2
Time's ravages all could repairN2
And replace the bowed form and the tottering stepO2
The wrinkles and silvery hairN2
By the brown flowing locks and the graces of youthR
Its footstep elastic and lightK
Could mantle the cheek with its long vanished bloomP2
And make the dull eye keen and brightK
-
'Tis only a fable a beautiful dreamT
But the fable the dream shall come trueO
As thy sons Alma Mater assemble to nightK
The joys of past years to renewO
Our eyes shall grow bright with their old wonted lightK
Our spirits untrammelled by careN2
And the Goddess of Hope with her fresh rainbow tintsQ2
Shall paint every prospect more fairN2
-
How sweet were the friendships we formed in thy hallsR2
How strong were the tendrils that boundD2
Our hearts to the mother whose provident careN2
Encompassed her children aroundD2
Now strong in our manhood we cherish her stillD
And if by misfortune brought lowG
Our strength shall support her our arms bear her upS2
And sustain her through weal and through woeG
