For The Consecration Of A Cemetery. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE AGHG IJKJ LMNM OPEP

This verdant field that smiles to HeavenA
In Nature's bright arrayB
From common uses set apartC
We consecrate to dayB
-
God's Acre be it fitly calledD
For when beneath the sodE
We lay the dead with reverent handsF
We yield them back to GodE
-
And His great love so freely givenA
Shall speak in clearer tonesG
When pacing through these hallowed walksH
We read memorial stonesG
-
Here let the sunshine softly fallI
And gently drop the rainJ
And Nature's countless harmoniesK
Blend one accordant strainJ
-
That they who seek this sacred placeL
In mourning solitudeM
In all this gracious companyN
May have their faith renewedM
-
So lifted to serener heightsO
And purified from drossP
Their trustful hearts shall rest on GodE
And profit by their lossP
