Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHFFIF HJKG LMHBNF FFBFOPFQH

I saw the first pearA
as it fellB
the honey seeking golden bandedC
the yellow swarmD
was not more fleet than IE
spare us from lovelinessF
and I fell prostrateG
cryingH
you have flayed usF
with your blossomsF
spare us the beautyI
of fruit treesF
-
The honey seekingH
paused notJ
the air thundered their songK
and I alone was prostrateG
-
O rough hewnL
god of the orchardM
I bring you an offeringH
do you alone unbeautifulB
son of the godN
spare us from lovelinessF
-
these fallen hazel nutsF
stripped late of their green sheathsF
grapes red purpleB
their berriesF
dripping with wineO
pomegranates already brokenP
and shrunken figsF
and quinces untouchedQ
I bring you as offeringH
