Lusty Youth Should Us Ensue Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EFGG AAGG HHGG AAIJ KKLLM

Lusty Youth should us ensueA
His merry heart shall sure all rueA
For whatsoever they do him tellB
It is not for him we know it wellB
-
For they would have him his Liberty refrainC
And all merry company for to disdainC
But I will not so whatsoever they sayD
But follow his mind in all that we mayD
-
How should Youth himself best useE
But all disdainers for to refuseF
Youth has as chief assuranceG
Honest Mirth with Virtue's pastanceG
-
For in them consisteth great honourA
Though that disdainers would therein put errorA
For they do sue to get them graceG
All only riches to purchaseG
-
With Good Order Counsel and EquityH
Good Lord grant us our mansion to beH
For without their good guidanceG
Youth should fall in great mischanceG
-
For Youth is frail and prompt to doA
As well vices as virtues to ensueA
Wherefore by these he must be guidedI
And Virtue's pastance must be therein usedJ
-
Now unto God this prayer we makeK
That this rude play may well be takeK
And that we may our faults amendL
An bliss obtain at our last endL
AmenM
