The Pursuit Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEEFEGEHEIILORD what a busy restless thing | A |
Hast Thou made man | B |
Each day and hour he is on wing | A |
Rests not a span | B |
Then having lost the sun and light | C |
By clouds surpris'd | D |
He keeps a commerce in the night | C |
With air disguis'd | D |
Hadst Thou given to this active dust | E |
A state untir'd | E |
The lost son had not left the husk | F |
Nor home desir'd | E |
That was Thy secret and it is | G |
Thy mercy too | E |
For when all fails to bring to bliss | H |
Then this must do | E |
Ah Lord and what a purchase will that be | I |
To take us sick that sound would not take Thee | I |
