The Incarnation, And Passion Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE FGHG IJIJ KLML

LORD when Thou didst Thyself undressA
Laying by Thy robes of gloryB
To make us more Thou wouldst be lessA
And becam'st a woful storyB
-
To put on clouds instead of lightC
And clothe the morning star with dustD
Was a translation of such heightC
As but in Thee was ne'er express'dE
-
Brave worms and earth that thus could haveF
A God enclos'd within your cellG
Your Maker pent up in a graveH
Life lock'd in death heav'n in a shellG
-
Ah my dear Lord what couldst thou spyI
In this impure rebellious clayJ
That made Thee thus resolve to dieI
For those that kill Thee every dayJ
-
O what strange wonders could Thee moveK
To slight Thy precious blood and breathL
Sure it was love my Lord for loveM
Is only stronger far than deathL
