-
Awake glad heart Get up and singB
It is the birthday of thy KingB
Awake AwakeC
The sun doth shakeC
Light from his locks and all the wayD
Breathing perfumes doth spice the dayD
-
Awake awake Hark how the wood ringsE
Winds whisper and the busy springsE
A consort makeC
Awake awakeC
Man is their high priest and should riseF
To offer up the sacrificeG
-
I would I were some bird or starH
Fluttering in woods or lifted farH
Above this innI
And road of sinI
Then either star or bird should beJ
Shining or singing still to TheeJ
-
I would I had in my best partK
Fit rooms for Thee Or that my heartK
Were so clean asL
Thy manger wasM
But I am all filth and obsceneN
Yet if Thou wilt Thou canst make cleanN
-
Sweet Jesu will then Let no moreO
This leper haunt and soil Thy doorO
Curse him ease himP
O release himP
And let once more by mystic birthQ
The Lord of life be born in earthQ

-
How kind is heaven to man If hereR
One sinner doth amendS
Straight there is joy and every sphereT
In music doth contendS
And shall we then no voices liftU
Are mercy and salvationV
Not worth our thanks Is life a giftU
Of no more acceptationV
Shall He that did come down from thenceW
And here for us was slainV
Shall He be now cast off No senseW
Of all His woes remainV
Can neither Love nor sufferings bindX
Are we all stone and earthQ
Neither His bloody passions mindX
Nor one day bless His birthQ
Alas my God Thy birth now hereR
Must not be numbered in the yearT
