And Do They So? Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AB C AACCDDEFAA GGHHEEIIJJ GGKKAALLGG IIAAMMNNGG

'Etenim res creatoe exerto capite observantesA
expectant revelationem Filiorum Dei 'B
-
'For created things watching with head erectC
await the revelation of the Sons of God '-
-
And do they so Have they a senseA
Of aught but influenceA
Can they their heads lift and expectC
And groan too Why the electC
Can do no more my volumes saidD
They were all dull and deadD
They judged them senseless and their stateE
Wholly inanimateF
Go go seal up thy looksA
And burn thy booksA
-
I would I were a stone or treeG
Or flower by pedigreeG
Or some poor highway herb or springH
To flow or bird to singH
Then should I tied to one sure stateE
All day expect my dateE
But I am sadly loose and strayI
A giddy blast each wayI
O let me not thus rangeJ
Thou canst not changeJ
-
Sometimes I sit with Thee and tarryG
An hour or so then varyG
Thy other creatures in this sceneK
Thee only aim and meanK
Some rise to seek Thee and with headsA
Erect peep from their bedsA
Others whose birth is in the tombL
And cannot quit the wombL
Sigh there and groan for TheeG
Their libertyG
-
O let me not do less Shall theyI
Watch while I sleep or playI
Shall I thy mercies still abuseA
With fancies friends or newsA
O brook it not Thy blood is mineM
And my soul should be ThineM
O brook it not why wilt Thou stopN
After whole showers one dropN
Sure Thou wilt joy to seeG
Thy sheep with TheeG
