To Thee Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIJKLKL

Draw close the lattice and the doorA
Shut out the very stars aboveB
No other eyes than mine shall poreA
Upon this thrilling tale of loveB
As since the book was open lastC
Along its dear and sacred textD
No other eyes than thine have passedC
Be mine the eyes that trace it nextD
-
Oh very nobly is it wroughtE
This web of love's divinest lightF
But not to feed my soul with thoughtE
Hang I upon the book to nightF
I read it only for thy sakeG
To every page my lips I pressH
The very leaves appear to makeG
A silken rustle like thy dressH
-
And so as each blest page I turnI
I seem with many a secret thrillJ
To touch a soft white hand and burnI
To clasp and kiss it at my willJ
Oh if a fancy be so sweetK
These shadowy fingers touching mineL
How wildly would my pulses beatK
If they COULD feel the beat of thineL
