Ode At Magnolia Cemetery Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGHG IJIJ KLKL

Sleep sweetly in your humble gravesA
Sleep martyrs of a fallen causeB
Though yet no marble column cravesA
The pilgrim here to pauseC
-
In seeds of laurel in the earthD
The blossom of your fame is blownE
And somewhere waiting for its birthD
The shaft is in the stoneE
-
Meanwhile behalf the tardy yearsF
Which keep in trust your storied tombsG
Behold your sisters bring their tearsH
And these memorial bloomsG
-
Small tributes but your shades will smileI
More proudly on these wreaths to dayJ
Than when some cannon moulded pileI
Shall overlook this bayJ
-
Stoop angels thither from the skiesK
There is no holier spot of groundL
Than where defeated valor liesK
By mourning beauty crownedL
