In happy quiet sleeping | B |
And resting on her face they ll find | F |
The earth is wet with weeping | B |

Now deep in darkness shaded | H |
She sheds the dewy tear because | I |
Of morning s mantle faded | J |
She misses from her breast the garb | K |
In which the moon array d it | L |

The evening queen will strive in vain | M |
To break the spell which bound her | N |
A million stars can never throw | O |
Departed warmth around her | N |
They all must pass away and leave | P |
The earth as they had found her | N |

But why should gentle Nature weep | Q |
That night has overtaken | R |
The wearied world that needed sleep | Q |
Refreshed to re awaken | R |
So richer light might burst around | S |
The gloomy shadows breaking | B |

That gleams above her borrow | O |
A single ray or find a way | G |
To check the tear of sorrow | O |
A beam of hope would last her till | E |
