Barren Age and withered WorldA
Oh the dying leavesB
Like a drizzling rainC
Falling round the roofD
Pattering on the paneC
Frosty Age and cold cold WorldA
Ghosts of other daysE
Trooping past the faded fireF
Flit before the gazeE
Now the wind goes soughing wildG
O'er the whistling EarthH
And we front a feeble flameI
Sitting round the hearthJ
Sitting by the fireF
Watching in its glowK
Ghosts of other daysE
Trooping to and froK

Oh the nights the nights we've spentL
Sitting by the fireF
Cheerful in its glowK
Twenty summers backM
Twenty years agoK
If the days were days of toilN
Wherefore should we mournO
There were shadows near the shineP
Flowers with the thornO
And we still can recollectQ
Evenings spent in mirthH
Fragments of a broken lifeR
Sitting round the hearthJ
Sitting by the fireF
Cheerful in its glowK
Twenty summers backM
Twenty years agoK

Beauty stooped to bless us onceS
Sitting by the fireF
Happy in its glowK
Forty summers backM
Forty years agoK
Words of love were interchangedQ
Maiden hearts we stoleT
And the light affection throwsU
Slept on every soulT
Oh the hours went flying pastQ
Hours of priceless worthH
But we took no note of TimeV
Sitting round the hearthJ
Sitting by the fireF
Happy in its glowK
Forty summers backM
Forty years agoK
-
Gleesome children were we notQ
Sitting by the fireF
Ruddy in its glowK
Sixty summers backM
Sixty years agoK
Laughing voices filled the roomW
Oh the songs we sungX
When the evenings hurried byY
When our hearts were youngX
Pleasant faces watched the flameI
Eyes illumed with mirthH
And we told some merry talesZ
Sitting round the hearthJ
Sitting by the fireF
Ruddy in its glowK
Sixty summers backM
Sixty years agoK
