News Of War Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBABABBCCDCDC

Today while yet the rumour filled the streetA
I left your faces troubled with the thoughtB
Of brothers to a bodeful fury wroughtB
And hurrying past a thousand twinkling feetA
With clouded heart a solitude I soughtB
The haunt of many leaves a cool retreatA
And mused of strife with untold interest fraughtB
Of homes of bloody battles to be foughtB
Nor stirred till night rose stormy and the deepC
Moaned like some monster shaken in its sleepC
Then doleful sounds came up from lea and lynnD
Where rain fell heavy on the gloomy deepC
As if the world so old and sick of sinD
Had turned her face into the dark to weepC
