News Of War Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBABABBCCDCDCToday while yet the rumour filled the street | A |
I left your faces troubled with the thought | B |
Of brothers to a bodeful fury wrought | B |
And hurrying past a thousand twinkling feet | A |
With clouded heart a solitude I sought | B |
The haunt of many leaves a cool retreat | A |
And mused of strife with untold interest fraught | B |
Of homes of bloody battles to be fought | B |
Nor stirred till night rose stormy and the deep | C |
Moaned like some monster shaken in its sleep | C |
Then doleful sounds came up from lea and lynn | D |
Where rain fell heavy on the gloomy deep | C |
As if the world so old and sick of sin | D |
Had turned her face into the dark to weep | C |
