Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD DDDD DEDE FGFG DHDH IJKJ DDDD DDDD DLDL MDMD MNMN| Dim dreams it hath of singing ways | A |
| Of far off woodland water heads | B |
| And shining ends of April days | A |
| Amongst the yellow runnel beds | B |
| - | |
| Stoop closer to the ruined wall | C |
| Whereon the wilful wilding sleeps | D |
| As if its home were waterfall | C |
| By dripping clefts and shadowy steeps | D |
| - | |
| A little waif whose beauty takes | D |
| A touching tone because it dwells | D |
| So far away from mountain lakes | D |
| And lily leaves and lightening fells | D |
| - | |
| Deep hidden in delicious floss | D |
| It nestles sister from the heat | E |
| A gracious growth of tender moss | D |
| Whose nights are soft whose days are sweet | E |
| - | |
| Swift gleams across its petals run | F |
| With winds that hum a pleasant tune | G |
| Serene surprises of the sun | F |
| And whispers from the lips of noon | G |
| - | |
| The evening coloured apple trees | D |
| Are faint with July's frosty breath | H |
| But lo this stranger getteth ease | D |
| And shines amidst the strays of Death | H |
| - | |
| And at the turning of the year | I |
| When August wanders in the cold | J |
| The raiment of the nursling here | K |
| Is rich with green and glad with gold | J |
| - | |
| Oh friend of mine to one whose eyes | D |
| Are vexed because of alien things | D |
| For ever in the wall moss lies | D |
| The peace of hills and hidden springs | D |
| - | |
| From faithless lips and fickle lights | D |
| The tired pilgrim sets his face | D |
| And thinketh here of sounds and sights | D |
| In many a lovely forest place | D |
| - | |
| And when by sudden fits and starts | D |
| The sunset on the moss doth burn | L |
| He often dreams and lo the marts | D |
| And streets are changed to dells of fern | L |
| - | |
| For let me say the wilding placed | M |
| By hands unseen amongst these stones | D |
| Restores a Past by Time effaced | M |
| Lost loves and long forgotten tones | D |
| - | |
| As sometimes songs and scenes of old | M |
| Come faintly unto you and me | N |
| When winds are wailing in the cold | M |
| And rains are sobbing on the sea | N |
