To the white footed Spirit of Snow | B |
On the wings of the tempest take wing | A |
And leave me the valleys and go | B |
And straightway the streams were unchained | C |
And the frost fettered torrents broke free | D |
And the strength of the winter wind waned | C |

With the pulse of a song in the dell | E |

Swift rings of sweet water were rolled | C |
Down the ways where the lily leaves grew | D |
And the green and the white and the gold | C |
Were wedded with purple and blue | D |
- | |
But the lips of the flower of the rose | F |
Said where is the ending hereof | G |
Is it sweet with you life at the close | H |

When each has been grafted on each | I |
It is sorrow to live on alone | J |
- | |
Then the leaves of the flower of the vine | K |
Said what will there be in the day | C |
When the reapers are red with my wine | K |
And the forests are yellow and grey | C |
And the tremulous flower of the quince | L |
Made answer three seasons ago | B |
My sisters were star like but since | L |
Their graves have been made in the snow | B |
- | |
Then the whispering flower of the fern | M |
Said who will be sad at the death | N |
When Summer blows over the burn | M |
With the fierceness of fire in her breath | N |
And the mouth of the flower of the sedge | O |
Was opened to murmur and sigh | G |
Sweet wind breaths that pause at the edge | O |
Of the nightfall and falter and die | G |
