JUST when the western lightA
Flickered out dimB
Flushing the mountain sideC
Summit and rimB
A last low lingering gleamD
Fell on a yellow streamD
And then there came a dreamD
Shining to himB
-
Splendours miraculousE
Mixed with his painF
All like a vision ofG
Radiance and rainF
He faced the sea the skiesH
Old star like thoughts did riseH
But tears were in his eyesH
Stifled in vainF
-
Infinite tokens ofG
Sorrows set freeI
Came in the dreaming windJ
Far from the seaI
Past years about him troopedK
Fair phantoms round him stoopedK
Sweet faces o er him droopedK
Sad as could beI
-
This is our brother nowL
Sisters deploreM
Man without purpose likeN
Ship without shoreM
He tracks false fire one saidO
But weep you he must treadO
Whereto he may be ledO
Lost evermoreM
-
Look said anotherP
Summit and slopeQ
Burn in the mountain landR
Basement and copeQ
Till daylight dying dimB
Faints on the world s red rimB
We ll tint this Dream for himB
Even with hopeQ
