Bellambi's Maid Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEF GHGHHHHHIFIF JKLKMNMNOFOF

Amongst the thunder splintered cavesA
On Ocean's long and windy shoreB
I catch the voice of dying wavesA
Below the ridges old and hoarB
The spray descends in silver showersC
And lovely whispers come and goD
Like echoes from the happy hoursC
I never more may hope to knowD
The low mimosa droops with locksE
Of yellow hair in dewy gladeF
While far above the caverned rocksE
I hear the dark Bellambi's MaidF
-
The moonlight dreams upon the sailG
That drives the restless ship to seaH
The clouds troop past the mountain valeG
And sink like spirits down the leeH
The foggy peak of CorrimalH
Uplifted bears the pallid glowH
That streams from yonder airy hallH
And robes the sleeping hills belowH
The wandering meteors of the skyI
Beneath the distant waters wadeF
While mystic music hurries byI
The songs of dark Bellambi's MaidF
-
Why comes your voice you lonely OneJ
Along the wild harp's wailing stringsK
Have not our hours of meeting goneL
Like fading dreams on phantom wingsK
Are not the grasses round your graveM
Yet springing green and fresh to viewN
And does the gleam on Ocean's waveM
Tide gladness now to me and youN
Oh cold and cheerless falls the nightO
On withered hearts and hopes decayedF
And I have seen but little lightO
Since died the dark Bellambi's MaidF
