Attila Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBAACDEDDED

What though his feet were shod with sharp fierce flameA
And death and ruin were his daily squiresB
The Scythian helped by Heaven's thunders cameA
The time was ripe for God's avenging firesB
Lo loose lewd trulls and lean luxurious liarsB
Had brought the fair fine face of Rome to shameA
And made her one with sins beyond a nameA
That queenly daughter of imperial siresC
The blood of elders like the blood of sheepD
Was dashed across the circus Once while dinE
And dust and lightnings and a draggled heapD
Of beast slain men made lords with laughter leapD
Night fell with rain The earth so sick of sinE
Had turned her face into the dark to weepD
