Attila Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABBAACDEDDED| What though his feet were shod with sharp fierce flame | A |
| And death and ruin were his daily squires | B |
| The Scythian helped by Heaven's thunders came | A |
| The time was ripe for God's avenging fires | B |
| Lo loose lewd trulls and lean luxurious liars | B |
| Had brought the fair fine face of Rome to shame | A |
| And made her one with sins beyond a name | A |
| That queenly daughter of imperial sires | C |
| The blood of elders like the blood of sheep | D |
| Was dashed across the circus Once while din | E |
| And dust and lightnings and a draggled heap | D |
| Of beast slain men made lords with laughter leap | D |
| Night fell with rain The earth so sick of sin | E |
| Had turned her face into the dark to weep | D |
