A Reward Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBAACDCDCCD

Because a steadfast flame of clear intentA
Gave force and beauty to full actioned lifeB
Because his way was one of firm ascentA
Whose stepping stones were hewn of change and strifeB
Because as husband loveth noble wifeB
He loved fair Truth because the thing he meantA
To do that thing he did nor paused nor bentA
In face of poor and pale conclusions yeaC
Because of this how fares the Leader deadD
What kind of mourners weep for him to dayC
What golden shroud is at his funeral spreadD
Upon his brow what leaves of laurel sayC
About his breast is tied a sackcloth greyC
And knots of thorns deface his lordly headD
