Of Thy Life, Thomas, This Compass Well Mark Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBCDEFEGHIHHIJKLK BBBB

Of thy life Thomas this compass well markA
Not aye with full sails the high seas to beatB
Ne by coward dread in shunning storms darkA
On shallow shores thy keel in peril freatB
to fretB
Whoso gladly halsethC
the golden mean to embraceD
Void of dangers advisedly hath his homeE
Not with loathsome muck as a den uncleanF
Nor palace like whereat disdain may glomeE
frownG
The lofty pine the great wind often rivesH
With violenter sway fallen turrets steepI
Lightnings assault the high mountains and clivesH
splitsH
A heart well stayed in overthwarts deepI
Hopeth amends in sweet doth fear the sourJ
God that sendeth withdraweth winter sharpK
Now ill not aye thus Once Phoebus to lourL
With bow unbent shall cease and frame to harpK
His voice In straight estate appear thou stoutB
And so wisely when lucky gale of windB
All thy puffed sails shall fill look well aboutB
Take in a reef Haste is waste proof doth findB
