To James Forbes, Esq. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEEFFGG

WHEN sever'd from this hostile shoreA
A weary captive now no moreA
Home cherish'd home shall glad your sightB
In blessedness of fresh delightB
While love shall weave new spells aroundC
That spot of consecrated groundC
-
Where sweet domestic joy impartsD
The charm that binds congenial heartsD
And filial tenderness preparesE
A balm for all terrestrial caresE
Forget not ah forget not thoseF
Who sought to soothe the captive's woesF
Exult be happy and be freeG
But give one pensive thought to meG
