Sonnet To The Torrid Zone Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDCD

PATHWAY of light o'er thy empurpled zoneA
With lavish charms perennial summer straysB
Soft 'midst thy spicy groves the zephyr playsB
While far around the rich perfumes are thrownA
The Amadavid bird for thee aloneA
Spreads his gay plumes that catch thy vivid raysB
For thee the gems with liquid lustre blazeB
And Nature's various wealth is all thy ownA
But ah not thine is Twilight's doubtful gloomC
Those mild gradations mingling day with nightD
Here instant darkness shrouds thy genial bloomC
Nor leaves my pensive soul that ling'ring lightD
When musing Mem'ry would each trace resumeC
Of fading pleasures in successive flightD
