Sonnet To The Curlew Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDCD

SOOTH'D by the murmurs on the sea beat shoreA
His dun grey plumage floating to the galeB
The Curlew blends his melancholy wailB
With those hoarse sounds the rushing waters pourA
Like thee congenial bird my steps exploreA
The bleak lone sea beach or the rocky daleB
And shun the orange bower the myrtle valeB
Whose gay luxuriance suits my soul no moreA
I love the ocean's broad expanse when drestC
In limpid clearness or when tempests blowD
When the smooth currents on its placid breastC
Flow calm as my past moments us'd to flowD
Or when its troubled waves refuse to restC
And seem the symbol of my present woeD
