She comes benign enchantress heav'n born PEACE | B |
With mercy beaming in her radiant eye | A |
She bids the horrid din of battle cease | B |

'Tis Nature's festival let earth rejoice | C |
And pour to Liberty exulting songs | D |
In distant regions with according voice | C |
Let Man the vict'ry bless its prize to Man belongs | D |

Resistless Freedom when she nerves the arm | E |
No vulgar triumph crowns the hero's might | F |
She she alone can spread a moral charm | E |
O'er war's fell deeds and sanctify the fight | F |
O GALLIA in this bright immortal hour | G |
How proud a trophy binds thy laurel'd brow | H |
Republic hail whose independent power | G |
All earth contested once all earth confesses now | H |

Protecting spirits of the glorious dead | I |
Ah not in vain the hero's noble toil | J |
Ah not in vain the patriot's blood is shed | I |
That blood shall consecrate his native soil | J |
Illustrious names to hist'ry's record dear | K |
And breath'd when some high impulse fires the bard | L |
For you shall virtue pour the glowing tear | M |
And your remember'd deeds shall still your country guard | L |

And thou lov'd BRITAIN my parental Isle | O |
Secure encircled by thy subject waves | P |
Thou land august where Freedom rear'd her pile | O |
While gothic night obscur'd a world of slaves | P |
Thy genius that indignant heard the shock | Q |
Of frantic combat strife unmeet for thee | R |
Now views triumphant from his sea girt rock | Q |
Thee unsubdued alone for thou alone wert free | R |

O happy thy misguided efforts fail'd | S |
My Country when with tyrant hosts combin'd | T |
O hideous conquest had thy sword prevail'd | S |
And crown'd the impious league against mankind | T |
Thou nurse of great design of lofty thought | U |
What homicide had thy insensate rage | V |
Effac'd the sacred lesson thou hast taught | U |
And with thy purest blood inscrib'd on glory's page | V |

Ah rather haste to Concord's holy shrine | W |
Ye rival nations haste with joy elate | X |
Your blending garlands round her altar twine | W |
And bind the wounds of no immortal hate | X |
Go breathe responsive rituals o'er the sod | Y |
Where Freedom martyrs press an early grave | N |
Go vow that never shall their turf be trod | Y |
By the polluting step of tyrant or of slave | N |

And from your shores the abject vices chase | Z |
That low Ambition generous souls disdain | A2 |
Corruption blasting every moral grace | Z |
Servility that kneels to bless his chain | A2 |
O Liberty those demons far remove | N |
Come nymph severely good sublimely great | X |
Nor to the raptur'd hope of mortals prove | N |
Like those illusive dreams that pass the iv'ry gate | X |

New Age that roll'st o'er man thy dawning year | K |
Ah sure all happy omens hail thy birth | B2 |
Sure whiter annals in thy train appear | K |
And purer glory cheers the gladden'd earth | B2 |
Like the young eagle when his stedfast glance | C2 |
Meets the full sun beam in his upward flight | F |
So thou shalt with majestic step advance | C2 |
And fix thy dauntless eye on Liberty and Light | F |
