CREATION'S GOD with thought elate	A
Thy hand divine I see	B
Impressed on scenes where all is great	A
Where all is full of thee	B

When on the rolling storm I gaze	C
That hangs how far below	D

Where on some bold stupendous height	E
The Eagle sits alone	F
Or soaring wings his sullen flight	E
To haunts still more his own	F

Where the sharp rock the Chamois treads	G
Or slippery summit scales	H
Or where the whitening Snow bird spreads	G
Her plumes to icy gales	H

Where the rude cliff's steep column glows	I
With morning's tint of blue	J
Or evening on the glacier throws	I
The rose's blushing hue	J

Or where by twilight's softer light	E
The mountain's shadow bends	K
And sudden casts a partial night	E
As black its form descends	K

Where the full ray of noon alone	F
Down the deep valley falls	L
Or where the sunbeam never shone	F
Between its rifted walls	L

Where cloudless regions calm the soul	M
Bid mortal cares be still	N
Can passion's wayward wish controul	N
And rectify the will	N

Where midst some vast expanse the mind	O
Which swelling virtue fires	P
Forgets that earth it leaves behind	O
And to it's heaven aspires	P

Where far along the desart air	Q
Is heard no creature's call	N
And undisturbing mortal ear	R
The avalanches fall	N

Where rushing from their snowy source	S
The daring torrents urge	T
Their loud toned waters headlong course	S
And lift their feathered surge	T

Where swift the lines of light and shade	U
Flit o'er the lucid lake	V
Or the shrill winds its breast invade	U
And its green billows wake	V

Where on the slope with speckled dye	W
The pigmy herds I scan	X
Or soothed the scattered Chalets spy	W
The last abode of man	X

Or where the flocks refuse to pass	Y
And the lone peasant mows	Z
Fixed on his knees the pendent grass	Y
Which down the steep he throws	I

Where high the dangerous pathway leads	A2
Above the gulph profound	B2
From whence the shrinking eye recedes	A2
Nor finds repose around	B2

Along the clifted rock	D2
Where firm the dark unbending pines	C2
The howling tempests mock	D2

Where level with the ice ribb'd bound	B2
The yellow harvests glow	N
Or vales with purple vines are crown'd	B2
Beneath impending snow	N

Where the rich min'rals catch the ray	E2
With varying lustre bright	E
And glittering fragments strew the way	E2
With sparks of liquid light	E

Or where the moss forbears to creep	F2
Where loftier summits rear	G2
Their untrod snow and frozen sleep	F2
Locks all the uncolour'd year	G2
