A Hymn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH AIAI HFEF

While thee I seek protecting PowerA
Be my vain wishes still'dB
And may this consecrated hourA
With better hopes be fill'dB
-
Thy love the powers of thought bestow'dC
To thee my thoughts would soarD
Thy mercy o'er my life has flow'dC
That mercy I adoreD
-
In each event of life how clearE
Thy ruling hand I seeF
Each blessing to my soul more dearE
Because conferr'd by theeF
-
In every joy that crowns my daysG
In every pain I bearH
My heart shall find delight in praiseG
Or seek relief in prayerH
-
When gladness wings my favour'd hourA
Thy love my thoughts shall fillI
Resign'd when storms of sorrow lowerA
My soul shall meet thy willI
-
My lifted eye without a tearH
The lowring storm shall seeF
My stedfast heart shall know no fearE
That heart will rest on TheeF
