Gold And Grey Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBBBBBBCDEBBE

War was romantic in the days of oldA
The knight rode forth to battle unafraidB
Wearing the favour of some royal maidB
Who loved him for his courage lionboldB
And thus he sought adventures manifoldB
In joust and tourney midst fanfaronadeB
Of trumpets or else fought in a crusadeB
Gainst infidels his honour to upholdB
But modern war is not at all the sameC
There are no plumes to catch my lady's eyeD
In dugouts deep or trenches lashed by rainE
Where poison gas creeps in to suffocateB
Where bullets slap against the parapetB
And barb d wire crucifies the slainE
