On The Train Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDEFGHIJKL A MNHOPQRSTUTVW A BKXYZKA2

IA
-
THE lady in front of me in the carB
With little red coils close over her earsC
Is talking with her friendD
And the circle of ostrich foam around her hatE
Curving over like a waveF
Trembles with her little windy wordsG
What she is saying I wonderH
That her feathers should trembleI
And the soft fur of her coat should slip down over her shouldersJ
Has her string of pearls been stolenK
Or maybe her husbandL
-
IIA
-
He is drunk that manM
Drunk as a lord a lord of the bibulous past sicN
He shouts wittily from his end of the car to the man in the cornerH
He bows to me with chivalrous apologiesO
He philosophizes plays with the wisdom of the agesP
Flings off his ragsQ
Displays his naked soulR
Athletic beautiful grotesqueS
In the good time comingT
When men drink no moreU
Shall we ever see a nude soul dancingT
Stript and freeV
In the temple of his godW
-
IIIA
-
She comes smiling into the carB
With irridescent bubbles of childrenK
She blooms in the close plush seatsX
Like a narcissus in a bowl of stonesY
She croons to a baby in her lapZ
The trees come swinging by to listenK
And the electric lights in the ceiling are starsA2
